OUR SPIRIT
"... a great door for effective work has opened to us..."
1 Corinthians 16:9
Founded in 1983, our small elementary and middle school exists to help us raise up a new generation of young people who will be academically competitive and spiritually equipped to impact their world for Jesus.

The Fellowship School is registered with the Board of Education of the State of New York and with the Board of Education of the City of New York.

Our elementary and junior high divisions provide a basic foundation for learning. Here, students develop good study habits, reasoning skills to think things through and make good decisions, and a sense of responsibility to the school community.

The school places its greatest emphasis on knowing the Bible. We believe the Bible is the Holy Word of God. It is authoritative, infallible and without error, and it is absolutely necessary for a proper understanding of humankind, the world, and God's relationship to them. Our school life is founded on it and governed by it.

Our Students Excel in a Structured
Learning Environment
At the Fellowship of Learning School
We believe firmly that all school-aged children, regardless of who they are or where they live, should have an adequate education.
Those students who display an ability to excel must be encouraged to excel still more through hard work, discipline and receiving personal guidance.

Prerequisites ... Fellowship Students Must
HAVE A Desire to learn
We live in a rapidly changing and developing world. Knowledge is constantly increasing. There is so much to be taught and time is limited. The Fellowship student must be attentive in class and have the will and desire to go beyond the classroom and make use of outside resources.
BE FLEXIBLE
Student's work and study habits will have to be refined as the difficulty level of their studies increases. Growth and progress is expected and required.
BE SOCIABLE
Students must be able to work and get along with their peers and their teachers. Students will be expected to work independently and in small groups. Good concentration and a right attitude toward their assignments is essential.
BE RECEPTIVE
Be receptive to the things concerning God and the Bible. The Bible will be presented as the authoritative Word of God. Students will be challenged to commit their lives to Jesus Christ and to serve Him.

HAVE PARENTS THAT SUPPORT THEM
We are only a part of the picture. The home and past experiences are strong forces in the lives of boys and girls, and it is difficult to make changes when parents are not supportive.
Our Programs

Reading and
Language Arts
We emphasize helping students increase their skills in oral and written expression. Emphasis is placed on vocabulary development and a critical examination of literature. We stress correct spelling, penmanship and grammar.

Mathematics
The program is designed to develop in each student sound arithmetic skills and strong problem solving abilities.

Literature
Using a wide range of literature, students learn to read critically by asking pertinent questions about what they have read and recognizing assumptions and the implications of ideas.

Science
Our approach to science is hands-on. Children learn new science concepts and sharpen their science process skills by seeing problems that need solutions.

Social Studies
The children gain a broader and deeper understanding of their world by studying history, current events, social studies, ethnic studies and geography.

Conversational Spanish
This course is taught in all grades. Students will develop an appreciation for and an ability to comprehend and communicate in Spanish.

Music
The children are exposed to music selected from a variety of sources. The students learn to read music and to play the recorder.

Art
A wide variety of artistic formats are explored. Students are encouraged to express individual creativity. Art history is also an integral part of the curriculum.

Physical Education
The program is concerned with exercises and basic activities in a variety of sports when possible.

".... Ms. White’s nearly four decades of dedication and sacrifice exemplifies the type of ardor lacking in most of our “free” educational institutions in our metropolitan area.
I highly recommend FLS for more than just its Christian base; but for its proven ability to support parents in making winners out of everyone! ..."
